"Never has the power of love, kindness and connection to fellow human beings felt more important in breaking the ties of social isolation." Australian Stage
It was only when Jodee was five years old and lost at Kmart that she realised her whole family were Deaf. Personal is a smart, touching and deeply personal story exploring dis/ability and how we perceive one another.
Personal is a solo live art performance exploring Jodee’s personal experience as the only hearing person in a Deaf family. Auslan is her first language and English is her second language. Through the use of a digital interpreter and multimedia devices, Personal is presented in both of Jodee’s native languages.
“Personal illuminates the parallel universe of Jodee Mundy’s childhood with aching truth, using the utterly compelling home videos of her mum to show a world as familiar as salt and as distant as the furthest planet.” Sue Giles, Artistic Director of Polyglot Theatre
