The concert includes a recital in the first half by celebrated International Harpist Vanessa McKeand and Sopranos Anita Senior, Louise Keast and Christine Heald.
Virtuoso harp-player, Vanessa McKeand has performed all over the world, and her colourful background includes performing on Arabian dhows on the Indian Ocean while resident harpist to the Sultan of Oman. In the first half of the concert Vanessa will play solo works, before being joined by Warrnambool soprano Louise Keast and Ballarat Soprano Christine Heald for some opera arias and the popular Flower Duet from Lakme.
The second half will feature the major work, Symphony of the Passion, by Warrnambool composer Ken Stott. The composition outlines the passion of Christ in four movements, and features harp, three sopranos and full symphony orchestra.

Rossini Overture to L’Italiana in Algieri
Mendelssohn Violin Concerto
Vivaldi Concerto for Two Violins
Schubert Symphony No.3
The MSO presents a breathtaking evening of classical masterworks, including Schubert’s dramatic Third Symphony, a high-spirited and charming romp imbued with the composer’s youthful vigour. Soloists love to perform Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto, and it’s easy to see why, with its vivacious rhythms and hummable melodies. Then, Vivaldi provides an extra dose of violin in his Concerto completing an evening both elegant and exhilarating.
